Old Moor 2012

Bird Group at Old MoorA group of 13 of us went to Old Moor in the Dearne Valley, just south of Barnsley, on a beautiful bright winter day. We surprised ourselves with a group total of 51 species.
The highlight for many was the fantastic kingfisher perched just 3 metres in front of one hide.
Although nothing new was added to our running list, some of the younger members of our party managed quite a few 'lifers'.

We had fabulous views of Tree Sparrows, Bullfinches, Yellowhammer and Reed Buntings (pictured below).
