Potteric Carr 2008

Common GullThis was our inaugural trip, and we chose to vist the jewel in the crown of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's reserves - Potteric Carr, just outside Doncaster.

We had a superb day, starting our venture with 60 species, including superb views of the rare and very elusive bittern and a brief view of the rare lesser spotted woodpecker.

Pictured is a Common Gull, often seen with the marginally smaller Black-headed Gulls on fields in the winter time.
