We are a Fairtrade Church - Fairtrade products are served in our Christchurch Cafe.
Ilkley Food & Drink Business of the Year 2018
Christchurch Café is an award winning Fairtrade Café with an extensive menu of wholesome, locally sourced/ ethical food at competitive prices. It is well known for its friendly, welcoming safe and supportive environment for all.
The menu offers nutritious but reasonably priced food. We are well known for our home-made scones, soup & vegetable casserole (which is gluten free, dairy free and vegan tolerant). The “specials board” changes regularly. The large variety of delicious cakes, tray bakes and gluten free items are worth trying.
Our children’s area is an attractive corner of the Café and has plenty of books and toys to keep the little ones amused. Families are welcome: parents and grandparents appreciate the chance to eat while their children are playing.
Christchurch Café is very proud of the high standard of food and service we provide to our customers. This was vindicated recently when we won the accolade: “ Food and Drink Business of the Year 2018” at the Ilkley Business Awards ceremony.
We also receive many lovely comments in our “Feedback Book”, such as:
“Your soups are the best I have ever had and your service is always helpful and cheerful”
“We absolutely love coming here. Toys for the kids and delicious vegetable casserole. What more could we ask for?!”
“As always the food and staff are wonderful, we will be back!”
Whilst we pride ourselves on our fantastic food and service, we are always driven by our core value of being a place where people can talk and be listened to. All our staff and volunteers are happy to spare time in their day to talk to anyone. We also have a special team of listeners who are available on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings from 10:00am - 11:30am.
Our diverse team of volunteers and small team of paid employees jointly help enrich the lives of our customers. Hence the volunteers feel useful and needed, and the staff feel pride in being able to support some of the more vulnerable in society.
To maintain the great service we provide we are always looking for new volunteers. If you would like to help please contact Kathryn or Liz on 01943 600326 or email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
We also sell greetings cards, many of which are printed inside with a Bible text. Bible Study Notes can also be ordered .
Christchurch Café is a haven for all, and all are welcome. We look forward to seeing you soon!
We had a recent refurbish - and it looks great now!

The Cake Church
Maybe you are not around during the week when the Christchurch Cafe (previously the Coffee Centre) is at its most appreciated and busy - it is known by many for: the home made soup (courgette and parmesan, mushroom, tomato and basil, carrot and coriander . . .) and scones (fruit, ginger and lemon, cheese and onion, cherry and almond . . .) and cakes (everyone has a favourite!).
But the Cafe is much more than the varied, reasonably priced, good quality, locally sourced, fair-trade food that is offered. It is the things that cannot be purchased that it's famous for: friendliness; always sometime to talk to; home to the lost and lonely; Big Issues sellers; lunch-time regulars; grandparents, carers and their babies and children; sometimes too noisy or too busy (coach party in town!); and especially the 'happy to help' attitude of our staff and volunteers.
Have a look in the Visitors Book for recent comments - someone even knows it as 'The Cake Church'.
We are also aware that over the years the volunteers have gained much by their involvement in this special part of Christchurch, they too have found a home and somewhere they can be useful and also gain work experience in an accepting environment.
These are some of the reasons why Christchurch and Ilkley values the Christchurch Cafe - however to maintain the services we provide we need new volunteers to join the team.
Please contact the Christchurch Cafe to discuss what you can contribute - it could be an hour or two each week / fortnight / month - find out where you can help.
If you are not able to help personally please add the Christchurch Cafe staff, volunteers and visitors to your prayers of thanks for all that is done and also as an area of need for prayer for the future.
