Cafe FamilyThe Christchurch Cafe serves drinks, cakes, light lunches and snacks in a friendly atmosphere. It continues to thrive as part of our community, attracting both local residents and visitors who enjoy the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, along with a satisfying menu at reasonable prices - our homemade soups and scones are always favourites, with mouth watering choices.

Customers who are surprised to find this haven on the busy Grove, and the new extended Saturday opening provides an alternative menu from weekdays with bacon baps added.

Cafe Childrens CornerThe childrens play area is an attractive corner of the Cafe with plenty of books and toys to keep the little ones amused.  Families are welcome and both Mums, Dads and Grandparents often comment on how they appreciate the chance to eat while the children are playing.

Our service to you is reliant on all our paid staff and volunteers who provide not only the ability to do their tasks but who also care and help all our customers. We pride ourselves that we are able to provide work experience to adults with various disabilities.

The Cake Church

Maybe you are not around during the week when the Christchurch Cafe (previously the Coffee Centre) is at its most appreciated and busy - it is known by many for: the home made soup (courgette and parmesan, mushroom, tomato and basil, carrot and coriander . . .) and scones (fruit, ginger and lemon, cheese and onion, cherry and almond . . .) and cakes (everyone has a favourite!).

But the Cafe is much more than the varied, reasonably priced, good quality, locally sourced, fair-trade food that is offered. It is the things that cannot be purchased that it's famous for: friendliness; always sometime to talk to; home to the lost and lonely; Big Issues sellers; lunch-time regulars; grandparents, carers and their babies and children; sometimes too noisy or too busy (coach party in town!); and especially the 'happy to help' attitude of our staff and volunteers.

Have a look in the Visitors Book for recent comments - someone even knows it as 'The Cake Church'.

We are also aware that over the years the volunteers have gained much by their involvement in this special part of Christchurch, they too have found a home and somewhere they can be useful and also gain work experience in an accepting environment.

These are some of the reasons why Christchurch and Ilkley values the Christchurch Cafe - however to maintain the services we provide we need new volunteers to join the team.

Please contact the Christchurch Cafe to discuss what you can contribute - it could be an hour or two each week / fortnight / month - find out where you can help.

If you are not able to help personally please add the Christchurch Cafe staff, volunteers and visitors to your prayers of thanks for all that is done and also as an area of need for prayer for the future.

Thank you.
