River Wharfe 2012

Birders at the Aqueduct BridgeAt the end of April, we met at 6:00am for a short walk along the River Wharfe down from Barden Bridge to the Strid Shelter. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and although the river was high after several days of persistent rain, we were rewarded with views of 41 species, five of which were new to our lists.
The highlight must have been the male Pied Flycatcher, although Sam's spot of a Mistle Thrush feeding chicks in a nest high up on a branch was also splendid.
