Dan's Den LogoMarch 2014
We are all very excited because we have a new logo. It was produced in conjunction with local families and their children (who gave up their time to attend a logo focus group) as well as with local primary school children, and was voted for by members of and visitors to Christchurch. It was designed by a local Ilkley design agency, Little Door Creative Services Ltd.

The Dan's Den team is pleased to announce that Listed Building Consent has now been granted for this exciting project and the team is busy fundraising with a total of £42,000 raised so far. You may have noticed that there is currently scaffolding around the whole of the Riddings Hall. This is because the roof is having urgent repairs following a regular five year inspection which means that Dan's Den will now be housed under a watertight and better insulated roof, benefitting the facility in the long term. We will keep you updated as to further news.

June 2013 - "A Den for the Ilkley Community”
As seen in the Ilkley Gazette on Thursday 20 June 2013, Christchurch is planning to set up a permanent soft play area for local youngsters in the Riddings Hall area of the church. This follows an overwhelmingly positive response to a recent questionnaire about whether parents would like to see such a soft play facility in Ilkley. The church is hoping to open “Dan’s Den” early next year, subject to prerequisite fundraising.

The aim of this non-profit making project is to reach out to all children and their families within the local community, regardless of faith or personal circumstance, by providing a fun, clean, safe and stimulating environment in which to play and develop.

Rev Rob Hilton, Minister of Christchurch, says: “The development of plans to enable Dan's Den are very exciting as this will provide a much needed community resource for children and their families, and allow us as a church to express in a new way our belief in community, togetherness, and the relevance of Christian faith in the world today.”.
Christchurch already holds a weekly “Mums & Toddlers” group on a Monday morning and a “Music Movers” music and dancing group on a Tuesday, both of which are extremely popular with an average of 30 children and 35 children attending these groups every week respectively with their parents/carers.
“Dan’s Den” will extend that welcome on a daily basis to all children and their parents or carers in the Ilkley area and beyond.

The facility will offer a range of play activities including fixed soft adventure play for children aged two to eight, a baby and toddler zone, facilities for disabled children and a quiet space.
The church is also planning to make internal alterations to the building. Proposed enhancements to the hall will include improved changing and disabled toilets, a secure reception area as well as a new kitchen. A new café area will also be integral to the facility.

The Roll-Out team are currently busy fundraising for this exciting project. So far a total of £35,000 has been awarded, subject to planning permission which is expected mid July.
“Dan’s Den” will have its own dedicated website at www.dansdenilkley.co.uk. It is currently “under construction”, but it will provide you with all the latest news and developments very shortly.
If you wish to know more, please email to dansden@outlook.com where one of the “Dan’s Den” Roll- Out team will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
